The K-OS machined pen is the self-proclaimed King of Scribble. It is the result of a considerable effort to design and manufacture a completely minimalist, yet highly functional pen, that would serve reliably for quick notes as well as long-form writing, and under any writing conditions. The design dates back to 2017, but it took nearly three years to dial in the design specs and production processes to a point where we were fully satisfied.
The pen design has the same clean, minimalist aesthetics that Aroundsquare has become known for.. a stark contrast to tactile aesthetics of many EDC pens. But don’t let the good looks fool you. These little beauties were designed to provide the writing experience of a full-sized pen in a compact, pocket friendly form factor. The KoS pen is 1cm in diameter, and measures roughly 10cm from refill tip to end—enough to rest comfortably in most hands, and bumps up to around 11.5cm with the cap posted.
The pen assembly includes a slot-end set screw to securely hold the ink refill in place (no screw driver included). The included set screws match the material of the pen. Spare stainless steel set screws are available in the drop down.
The K-OS pens are precision machined and polished just enough to give em that fresh new pen look, but not so much that you'll be intimidated from throwing them in your pocket with your keys. They are laser etched with a subtle AROUNDSQUARE word mark. The pens are available in five materials, and all are completely raw and untreated. The copper and brass, in particular, will begin to patina almost immediately, and will take on a personalized tone with age.
The pens ship with a Fisher Space Pen pressurized ball-point refill. While there are lots of great refills out there, the FSP’s are pretty much undisputed as the most reliable option available in this category. They don't dry out, and write without skipping on pretty much any type of paper.

Note on the Ultem K-OS pens: The Ultem version of the pen is transparent, and the internals will be visible, including the ink cartridge and all internal drilling, milling, and threading. Note that the interior of the pens cannot be polished, so all of the internal work has a frosted machine finish look to it, and spiral drill patterns may be visible. This is part of the beauty of working in a transparent material, and the effect is most apparent with the polished versions, since the exterior polish makes the rest of the body clear.
