The King of Flow Fountain Pen
The King of Flow Fountain Pen
Aroundsquare's long-awaited fountain pen project is dubbed the K-OFF (King of Flow). These beautiful pens are styled after our original K-OS ballpoint pocket pens, but with a beefed up width to accommodate the required internals and provide the most comfortable long form writing experience. While most fountain pens taper towards the nib, this generally requires the fingers to crimp down to maintain a solid grip. The straight barrel and grip section of the K-OFF pens is (surprisingly) fairly unconventional in the fountain pen world, but has tried and true ergonomics, modelled after the old "primary pencils" used in elementary schools, which are designed to be ultra easy to hold and write with, even for fumbly little fingers. In addition to the clean, minimalist aesthetics of a straight shot down the nib, this design sits comfortably in the hand and is effortless to hold. The long body and grip section form a continuous unit that will be serviceable for most hands even without posting the cap, but the cap can be easily posted for longer writing sessions.
The pens feature Bock 250 "triple" nibs, which include the feed assembly to ensure perfect fit and finish for smooth ink flow during writing. Bock nibs are made in Germany, and are one of the industry standards, used by many other notable brands, and are available in a wide range of tip and grind options, and for the first time, you have the option of adding a pen clip to your fountain pen.
Titanium Options
Our elegant, minimalist fountain pens have been popular since day one, but folks have been waiting for more options. Titanium is the first of the additional metals to be ready, and we couldn't be happier with the final product. These beautiful pens are styled after our original K-OS ballpoint pocket pens, but with a beefed up width to provide the most comfortable long form writing experience. The time tested ergonomics are based on the old school "primary pencils," which are designed to be ultra easy to hold, even for fumbly fingers.. especially good for lengthy writing session.
Acrylic and Aluminum Options
In this initial launch, we are offering the fountain pens in your choice of five different acrylic options, or three options for anodized 6061 aluminum with an etched word mark. The pens include your choice of fine, medium, or bold stainless steel nib, and will ship with a small selection of ink cartridges to get you started. We are not offering additional components such as converters at this time. Note that most converters will NOT fit due to the small form factor of this pocket pen, but the Kaweco Mini Piston converters do work well, and are widely available from fountain pen dealers. For those looking for more exotic nib grinds or other material options, the Bock 250 nibs are, similarly, available from many specialized shops.
The acrylic models weigh in at around ~10g all in with nib and ink. Their aluminum counterparts weigh around ~17g all in
Heavy Metal Editions
The heavy metal versions of the K-OFF include the stainless steel, brass, and copper models. These hefty chunks of metal provide a very satisfying writing experience, as the nib glides along the page. Each pen is precision machined to our specifications, and features a subtly laser etched "Aroundsquare" word mark on the upper portion of the pen body.
Delrin Editions
Delrin (POM) is renowned for its strength and durability. While the material is technically a plastic, it is heavier and tends to have a warmer feel to the touch compared to most plastics. The striking Delrin versions of our fountain pen are available in six different colour options, and provide a lightweight yet durable option for those wanting an easy-carry fountain pen.
Ultem Edition
Ultem is the branded name for a high-performance polymer also known as polyetherimide, or PEI. It's solidly in the category of what we might call badass plastics. These are materials that demonstrate exceptional properties, which truly set them apart from conventional polymers. With the transparency of the Ultem material, the threading and internals of the fountain pen show through, while the amber colour of the material gives it a distinct appearance, even from afar. NOTE: Since it is transparent, any spilled or leaking ink on the interior of the pen will be immediately noticeable. Be sure your ink cartridges are inserted firmly. If you ever find ink seeping from the nib, use the thumb and forefinger to apply firm pressure against the nib directly into the barrel of the pen.. the nibs can wiggle slightly loose over time and this gentle fix is part of general fountain pen maintenance.

Note on nibs: For our inventory management, it is necessary to limit the number of available units of each material, across nib sizes. If the nib size you want is not available in the material you want, feel free to purchase the material you want and include a note with your order about your preferred nib size. We have lots of nibs, and it is easy for us to install your preferred nib size on the pen you buy.
Note on interchangeability: Some mixing and matching of pen components is possible, particularly within a given material range. However, due to very slight differences in machine calibration, it may not be possible to mix and match components across materials. Please don't buy multiple pens of different materials with the expectation that they can all thread together, as this may not be the case. That said, within a given range, for example the delrin pens or the aluminium models, the calibrations are quite consistent and mixing and matching should be hassle free.
