Gravity Cup

The Gravity Cup is a mindfulness tool first, and a drinking vessel second. It's heavy, solid, and unforgiving. Created from a single, solid chunk of material, the Gravity Cup adds weight to everything you put in it. It forces your attention to the matter at hand, and provides a satisfying experience regardless of what you're drinking.

As a design object, the Gravity Cup is near perfection. Small and unobtrusive, it nonetheless exudes strength. It makes a powerful statement just to look at it, and an even greater one when you pick it up. The weight will immediately communicate that this is not a "to go" cup. The Gravity Cup holds ground for a slower lifestyle, focused on savouring an experience rather than mass consumption. It's small by the standards of our day. It holds less than six ounces when completely full, and around four when filled comfortably. Whatever we are using it for, it compels us to slow down, get our heads on, and bring a little gratitude to every sip.

Metal Editions

The titanium and stainless steel editions of the Gravity Cup are the originals, embodying the weight and strength of the concept. Note that these are very heavy, especially the stainless steel metal. Note also that these solid metals conduct heat very efficiently, and will quickly get as hot as anything you put in them. So be careful and remember to slow down. Let things cool before you try to pick them up and put them in your face.

Caution: The Gravity Cup is solid metal, and is NOT a double wall insulated cup. It is heavy and conducts heat/ cold well. If you drop it, it can break things. And if you fill it full of boiling liquid, the cup will get very hot. So, it can hurt and burn you. Filling it modestly full (2/3) is recommended, and then just be patient and let it cool. If it's too hot to pick up, it's also too hot to ingest.

Borosilicate Edition

Borosilicate, also marketed under the name Pyrex, is a very durable and temperature resistant type of glass. This new addition to the range shares pretty much everything else in common with the metal versions.. the same beautiful aesthetics, the same dimensions, and a very similar capacity. These glass beauties are much lighter than the metal versions, due to the material, but they still have a substantial heft to them, for a satisfying and mindful experience.

There are two other notable differences between the glass versions and the machined metal ones. First and foremost, borosilicate does not conduct heat as efficiently as metal. So, although they are still solid walled, they offer more insulation, which some may prefer for use with hot liquids. Second, since these cups are cast rather than machined, the manufacturing required a slight easing of the thickness at the bottom of the cups. They are thick and solid towards the edges, but the centre of the base is slightly recessed, giving them every so slightly more capacity than the metal versions.

The glass cups are being launched as singles, in individual packaging, with the option of adding a leather sleeve. Six packs will be available in the future at a slightly reduced unit cost.. just a heads up for anyone who prefers to wait.

Our borosilicate Gravity Cups are finally going to be available in six packs. And also as promised, you'll get them at a bulk price when you buy by the half dozen. We're stoked about the new packaging and look forward to stocking your kitchen cupboards with these beauties.

Note: Since the cup is heavy, shipping may be a bit costly. Please compare shipping options when you check out to find the best option for your location.

I have the Stainless and Boro.
I have also gifted my husband a Dtainless and my mom loved mine so she is getting her this month.
We also have the Boro glass. I kept a couple for thr house, but I give these as gifts. Just add a drink of choice (tea packet, hot coca packet, airplane bottle) a scratch off lotto ticket or something and presto! A great gift and we get Aroundsquare further out into the world!
