2024 Mini Standards

At the time of the original Standards launch, the mode was very much: the heavier the better. All of our designs were benchmarked against the Titans. The full-sized Modern Standards were designed with that heavier weight in mind, and were made “hardcore compatible” for anyone wanting to use our micro bead inserts for even more weight. The Mini Standards, for their part, were designed with thickened walls and a smaller recess at the base in order to maximize weight in the small form factor. Over the years, however, preferences in the community have trended towards lighter designs. Experienced players in particular have tended to gravitate towards lighter beads, especially in the smaller sized packages. Now eight years after the introduction of the originals, we've decided it was time to revisit the Mini Standards and give that lineup some love. We've kept the same reliable exterior design, with its trusty 1:1 aspect ratio, comfortable rounding, and the straight edges for supreme control. But this time, we've emptied out the interior for a spacious bore that dramatically reduces the overall weight and lets you fully tuck away your knots for a clean finish. These new Mini Standards are easy to carry, they look great, and they're a treat to play. Launching this month in titanium, stainless steel, brass, and copper.

Legacy Edition

With the introduction of the 2024 Mini Standards, Aroundsquare's previous (original) Mini Standard design is being moved over and re-dubbed the Legacy Edition. From the original product listing: Aroundsquare's "Standards" begleri series is our homage to the ubiquitous “standard issue” Greek barrel shaped begleri. This series is a contemporary adaptation of the original timeless design, with a slightly refined shape, precision machined and polished to perfection. They feature the same 1:1 aspect ratio favoured by most players, and a compact form factor that is small enough to slip easily past the string instead of binding, and sufficiently rounded for comfortable play. The right angles in the design provide excellent bead control without compromising on nimbleness. 

The Mini Standard Legacy sets are sized at 14mm by 14mm, comparable to two Mini Hydras stacked together. The beads feature a generous top bore to easily accommodate 550 paracord.

• Copper: 14.8g per bead
• Brass: 13.9g per bead
  
• Stainless: 13.0g per bead
• Bronze: 9.7g per bead (due to a more hollow bottom bore)

Note that, if used correctly, the smooth polished look of these ain't gonna last. Stainless steel is the hardest, followed by brass, then bronze and copper. Copper, bronze, and brass will patina and darken over time. 

All sets come with extra cords, stickers, and a carry bag, although colours and quantities may not be as shown in the photos.
