Aurora Begleri - AO2 x Glidr Collab
Aurora Begleri
The Aurora begleri are a collaborative project from Aroundsquare and Glidr - an Australian manufacturer of premium balisong trainers. The distinctive Aurora beads feature an elongated form factor, designed to handle in a way that is familiar and relatable for balisong flippers, while providing a fresh and satisfying experience for seasoned begleri players, and still being nimble enough to perform technical tricks. The cylindrical barrel shape gives the Auroras a substantial surface that helps with controlling the beads during play, while the length helps anchor the beads between the fingers, and provides some additional momentum during rolls and other dynamic tricks.
The beads are precision machined from 6061 aluminum, blasted, and anodized in striking colours. The finished beads have been laser engraved with a distinctive pattern unique to the Auroras, and a subtle word mark at the top of each bead to acknowledge the collaboration. The beads weigh in at ~7.8g each, or around ~17.5g all in with cord. They feature a 3.5mm top bore, which is suitable for either 550 or 275 paracord, as well as Aroundsquare's custom 2mm or 4mm Kevlar. The bottom bore includes a substantial recess that allows the knotted ends of the cord to be countersunk, while also trimming the weight and making the beads slightly top heavy and easy to manipulate. They're packaged with a unique cross-branded carry bag and gift box, and include three strands of 550 paracord and a card that briefly introduces begleri to new players.
