17mm Lil' More Boss Begleri

The first begleri beads Aroundsquare ever manufactured were simple round beads, 15mm in diameter. These tough little beads came to be known as the Lil' Bosses, due to their small size and the punch they pack! We re-introduced the Lil' Bosses several years later, and over time, they have actually become our best selling beads, because they serve dual purpose in our inventory, also serving as lock beads on most of our MKUltras sets.

The 15mm version of the Lil' Bosses is a small set to handle, particularly given the round shape, so when we decided to manufacture some 17mm beads, we figured we'd give folks the option to purchase them as begleri sets--perfect for anyone wanting a Lil' More Boss.

Round beads have a special feel, with that comfortable rounding and compact 1:1 form factor. The 17mm version plays quite nimbly and can navigate between the fingers smoothly. The titanium version will feel familiar to anyone who has spent time with our similarly compact sets such as the Greys, the Pocos, or the 15mm Lil' Bosses. The heavier metals (ss, copper, and brass) are indeed very heavy, and play more like the OG Titans--in fact, they are noticeably heavier and denser than the Titans.

Note on weight: While the titanium 17mm sets are very much in the "preferred range" for begleri weight, the heavier metals most definitely feel and play as heavy sets. The stainless, brass, and copper versions are not recommended for beginners or for anyone concerned about strain on their fingers or punishing their knuckles. Some players have a strong preference for heavy sets, due to the momentum and stability they afford during play. Heavy sets tend to be forgiving in terms of technique, but they will tire out the hands more quickly, and if you're new to begleri and don't have the techniques of finger spacing and timing down, these dense and heavy sets can smack the back of the hands harder than most people would enjoy.

Attractive simplicity

I recently purchased a titanium set of these along with a set of Titans, which I have also reviewed.
Already owning a brass set which weigh a third as much again, I was interested to see how I would fare with a significantly lighter set. From what I read on this site, I anticipated that I would find them more challenging. That has proved to be the case, but in an exciting way. These require greater delicacy, with little margin for error. I can only admire those I see on e.g. YouTube who can use lighter sets acrobatically.
I also find their look delightful.
I find myself swapping between sets and am enjoying the whole experience.
